This article looks at two deck companies in two different parts of the country that are proactively taking on change. In the first example, a Maryland company is prompted by the downturn in new-home construction to target a new market. The second example is my own company, which is expanding in response to opportunities in a growing local economy in Idaho (Figure 1).
